Privacy Policy
Effective date: 9/29/2026
This policy explains how the National Marina Insurance Association ("NMIA," "we," "us") collects, uses and protects information on marinacaptive.com and NationalMarinaInsurance.com, which points to the same site.
Who we are
NMIA is organizing a member-owned group captive insurance program for independent marina owners. You can reach us at Dana@MarinaCaptive.com.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you use our contact form, email us, or complete the NMIA Marina Profile, we collect what you choose to provide. This can include your name, business name, email, phone number, and details about your marina.
- Marina Profile information. See the "Marina Profile information" section below.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site (hosted by Wix) automatically collects basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, IP address, the pages you view, and cookies needed to run the site. Our cookie banner lets you choose which non-essential cookies to allow.
How we use information
We use information to respond to your questions, provide information about NMIA, evaluate and communicate with prospective members, design and operate the NMIA program, improve our website, and meet legal requirements. If you contact us, we may follow up by email or phone about NMIA. You can ask us to stop at any time.
Marina Profile information
What we collect.
When you complete the NMIA Marina Profile, we collect the information you choose to give us about your marina, including contact details, location and operations, docks and property values, revenue ranges, current insurance terms and premiums, and claims history.
Why we collect it.
NMIA uses this information to evaluate marinas for membership in our member-owned group captive, to design coverage and pricing for members, and to compare insurance conditions across regions.
Who may see it.
We share Marina Profile information only with organizations that help us design, form, insure or operate the NMIA program, and only as needed for that purpose. These may include our captive manager, actuaries, legal and accounting advisors, insurance, fronting and reinsurance companies, and the service providers that host our website. When we share information to present the program as a whole, we use combined or anonymized figures where practical.
How it's stored.
Submitted profiles are stored in a private database on our website platform (Wix) that only NMIA administrators can access. While you're filling out the form, your draft answers are saved only in your own web browser, on your device, until you press "Send to NMIA."
How long we keep it. We keep Marina Profile information for up to three years after you submit it, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Not an application. Completing a Marina Profile is not an application for insurance, a quote or a binder, and it does not commit you to join NMIA.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- with service providers who help us run our website and business, such as Wix (website hosting) and our email provider, under their own privacy and security obligations;
- with the organizations described in the Marina Profile section, for the purposes described there;
- when required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies and similar technologies provided by Wix to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Essential cookies are needed for the site to work. You can manage non-essential cookies through our cookie banner or your browser settings. The Marina Profile form stores your draft answers in your browser's local storage so you don't lose your work; it does not use them for tracking. The form also loads fonts from Google Fonts.
How long we keep information
We keep contact-form messages and emails as long as needed to respond and to maintain our relationship with you, and Marina Profile information for up to three years, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it longer.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including access controls on our website database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by emailing Dana@MarinaCaptive.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we will honor requests as the law requires.
Children
Our site is intended for business owners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with an updated effective date.
